An LNG Tanker sailed through the Red Sea days after Houthis sank a bulk carrier in the Red Sea.

Since January, Asya Energy was the first tanker to pass Yemen and travel via the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandeb Strait on Tuesday.

LNG Trips were suspended through the Red Sea due to Houthi attacks and the use of missiles and drones.

The Suez Canal connects the Red Sea to the Mediterranean, forming the shortest maritime route between Europe and Asia.

The Palau-flagged tanker is moving towards Gibraltar and is carrying cargo, per Kpler data. Earlier, it called at Oman’s Sohar Port.It is managed by Dubai based Nur Global Shipping, owned by Lule One Services.

According to Ana Subasic, an LNG analyst at Kpler, Asya Energy became the first tanker to cross the Red Sea since January 12 after waiting near the Omani coast since the middle of January.

She mentioned that the data shows it is heading to Gibraltar, but it is too early to predict its destination accurately. She added that they were keeping a close watch on the tanker.

Shipping Industry Stakeholders have called for immediate action in the Red Sea to stop attacks on ships by Houthis, claiming to act in solidarity with the people of Gaza in the Israel-Hamas conflict.
