Petrovietnam Transportation Corporation (PVTrans) has officially taken delivery of the crude oil tanker PVT Poseidon at the port of Tarragona in Spain, marking a key step in the corporation’s fleet investment and development plan for 2025.
PVT Poseidon is an Aframax-class crude oil tanker with a deadweight of 114,542 DWT. Built in Japan and classed by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), one of the world’s leading classification societies, the vessel features a modern design and high technical standards, meeting international maritime requirements on safety, environmental protection and operational efficiency.
The addition of PVT Poseidon is part of PVTrans’ 2025 investment plan approved by the corporation’s General Meeting of Shareholders. The investment in the Aframax segment is intended to expand the crude oil tanker fleet and strengthen the corporation’s presence on international routes.

With the addition of PVT Poseidon, PVTrans’ fleet has grown to 63 vessels, taking total deadweight capacity to more than 1.9 million DWT. This strengthens the corporation’s transport capacity, particularly in crude oil and liquid cargo segments.
The investment is in line with PVTrans’ sustainable development strategy, which prioritises modern vessels with strong technical specifications built at reputable shipyards. This approach supports the corporation’s efforts to rejuvenate its fleet, meet growing customer requirements and enhance value for shareholders.
