Wallenius Wilhelmsen, a leading roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) shipping company, has inked two major multi-year shipping contracts with a top global construction and mining equipment manufacturer and one of the Americas’ largest automotive distributors, the company said Tuesday.
The deal with the construction and mining equipment manufacturer, valued around US $1 billion, spans for three years with an optional extension of two years. The agreement, which started in November 2023, carries amended rates in accordance with the current market standards.
Simultaneously, the Oslo-based firm has entered into another multi-year agreement with a leading automotive distributor in the Americas, worth approximately $200 million. This contract initiated in early 2024, is expected to last for two years, with rates reflecting the present market conditions.
Both contracts incorporate direct support for Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s decarbonisation initiatives, which include the use of biofuel, improvements to the existing fleet, and the development of new technologies.
Pia Synnerman, Chief Customer Officer at Wallenius Wilhelmsen, said, “These two significant contracts mark a positive start to 2024, strengthening our partnerships with key customers in the high and heavy and automotive segments, and extending predictability for both the customer and Wallenius Wilhelmsen.”
Wallenius Wilhelmsen manages the distribution of cars, trucks, rolling equipment, and breakbulk to customers globally. With a fleet of around 125 vessels, the company services 15 trade routes to six continents, a global inland distribution network, 66 processing centers, and eight marine terminals.
