Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL President & CEO: Takeshi Hashimoto, Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo) announced the official launch of “OceanCare”, a comprehensive wellbeing support program developed for seafarers serving on its vessels worldwide.
The program commenced on May 1, 2025, and is designed to provide easily accessible and confidential mental health support services to all MOL seafarers and their families.
Recognizing the unique challenges that seafarers often face due to the nature of their work, “OceanCare” introduces an independent and confidential support system that allows seafarers or their families to voluntarily seek advice, assistance and support to improve their wellbeing.
“OceanCare” is being launched in collaboration with The Mission to Seafarers (MtS) UK, a global maritime charity organization with over 160 years of experience in providing support to seafarers. At the heart of this initiative is the pioneering appointment of a dedicated Welfare Officer.
This unique role will serve as a direct and confidential point of contact for MOL Seafarers and families, ensuring personalized care and timely support. In addition, the program offers access to professional counselling services, tailored support for women seafarers and wellbeing focused training sessions, reinforcing MOL’s holistic approach to seafarer welfare.
“OceanCare” aligns with the MOL Group’s Sustainability Strategy, the “Safety & Value” & “Human & Community” pillar of the MOL Group Corporate Mission and Vision, which emphasizes the creation of a safe and inclusive working environment.
Through these efforts, MOL aims to further reinforce its dedication to comprehensive seafarer care and promote a culture that values both physical safety and mental wellbeing.
