UK Maritime Trade Organization (UKMTO) has stated that another general cargo vessel came under missile attack while transiting the Gulf of Aden on 22nd February. The general cargo ship, ISLANDER, was on fire after being hit by a Houthi missile 70NM off the southern coast of Yemen. The vessel was coming from Thailand and was headed to Egypt, as confirmed by the maritime security firm Ambrey. As per the last report update of UKMTO, the vessel has sustained minor damages, and the crew onboard is safe.
CENTCOM informed that two anti-ship missiles were fired at 8:30 am and 9:45 am. Sources have confirmed that the vessel sustained minor damages and is continuing its journey. The ownership of the vessel has not yet been confirmed, but there are media reports stating that ISLANDER is a UK-owned vessel.
