A Turkish-flagged general cargo vessel, KURUOGLU 3, was struck by a missile in the latest Russian assault. The Turkish media has said that the ship has been stranded in the port of KHERSON since 2022.
The District Administrator has confirmed that in the overnight Russian attack, high-rise apartment buildings, private homes, a farm, and a grain elevator were also damaged. In the attack, one person was killed, and two others have been reported injured.
KURUOGLU 3 is a Turkish-flagged 1990-built vessel that is owned by Istanbul-based Kuruoglu Denizcilik. The ship arrived in KHERSON on 22nd Feb 2022 and has been stranded at the port due to the Russian invasion.
In the latest missile attack, the vessel suffered damages on the starboard side, which eventually caused water ingress. The vessel owner informed the Turkish media that the vessel might sink alongside the dock.
Turkish President Erdogan has said that 12 Turkish vessels are stranded in Ukrainian ports, and they are working to get these vessels released.
