Japan’s first large methanol dual-fuel crude oil tanker will be built by IINO Kaiun Kaisha (IINO Lines) at the Nihon Shipyard.
The VLCC will be based on the design proposed by a consortium of four companies: IINO Lines, Idemitsu Tanker Co., Ltd, NSY, and Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha.
The tanker is expected to be completed by 2027 and will be chartered with Idemitsu Tanker, a Japanese energy company.
The VLCC can utilise methanol as a fuel apart from the traditional fuel oil. It has a shaft generator that produces electricity by using the rotation of the main propeller shaft.
IINO Lines reinstated their commitment to ensure safe and stable transport by using their experience and technical knowledge through years of operation and management.
