Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has unveiled details about its upcoming ship, Norwegian Luna. Set to embark on its maiden voyage in spring 2026, the new vessel will be the 21st ship in NCL’s fleet and represents the next evolution of their Prima Plus Class.

At 1,056 feet long and 156,300 gross tons, Norwegian Luna will be tied as the fifth-largest ship in NCL’s fleet. It will accommodate approximately 3,550 guests, boasting a 10% increase in size and capacity compared to its Prima Class predecessors. The ship will offer various Caribbean itineraries from Miami, including destinations such as Roatan Island, Costa Maya, Cozumel, and NCL’s private island, Great Stirrup Cay.

Norwegian Luna will be designed as an identical sister ship to Norwegian Aqua, NCL’s latest vessel set to launch in March 2025. Both ships are being constructed by renowned Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri. The interior designs across the ships are the work of world-class architects, including AD Associates, Piero Lissoni, Rockwell Group, SMC Design, and Studio Dado.

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings ordered Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna in 2017 as part of “Project Leonardo.” The first two ships in the series, Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva, were delivered in 2022 and 2023, respectively. Ships 3-6 were later expanded to be larger and with higher passenger capacities.

In April, NCLH returned to Fincantieri with an order for eight new ships, its largest to date, for its Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, and Regent Seven Seas Cruises brands. The eight ships are scheduled for delivery over a ten-year period, between 2026 and 2036.

“The debut of Norwegian Luna truly showcases our ongoing commitment to providing guests more of what they enjoy and value—a brand-new ship with the latest, innovative offerings sailing to the beautiful, tropical destinations of the Caribbean,” said David J. Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line.

The ship will feature unique attractions such as the Aqua Slidecoaster, a hybrid rollercoaster and waterslide, and the Glow Court, a digital sports complex that transforms into a nightclub. Luxury amenities include the new Three-Bedroom Duplex Haven Suites and various dining options like Sukhothai, a Thai specialty restaurant, and Indulge Food Hall.
